Asalamualaykum- Brothers and Sisters we are in exceptional times having to make difficult decisions for the sake of the health of our communities.

It would be irresponsible for us to advise any Eid gathering - whether in the park or elsewhere. Currently the UK lockdown rules/ laws would not allow the gathering of several hundred people for Eid prayer.

Therefore TIECM has taken the decision not to hold Eid-ul Fitr prayer for the community this year. Social distancing would be impossible to maintain and the risks would be too great even if this was outdoors in a park.

Further - we would advise reading the Islamic evidence (in the Resources --> Download section of this website) of what to do if there is not a community Eid prayer or you miss the Eid prayer. The strongest opinion is to perform the Eid-ul Fitr prayer in your own homes within your household. This would be 2 rakaats with the takbirs as per the Sunnah (7 in the first rakaat and 5 in the second). There is no individual Eid Khutbah.

May Allah accept all our good deeds. We pray you and your loved ones stay safe and in good health over the coming weeks and months.

Jazaka Allah Khair
